Chancellor Park in University Heights is set for a makeover! Construction on a new playground and trail network starts this summer. The project has been carefully planned with your feedback in mind to enhance recreational space available to families, children, and outdoor enthusiasts in the neighborhood.

Early last summer, the City of Prince George hosted a public online engagement exercise that highlighted two key themes: that green space should be preserved as much as possible and that many people want a playground in the neighbourhood. In August, the City sent a survey to people who live close to Chancellor Park and provided two options: 1. Leave Chancellor Park as it is or 2. Build a standard neighbourhood park. When the survey closed in September, 94% of survey respondents said they wanted a playground.

During budget discussions in January 2025, Council approved the capital budget request of up to $500,000. Construction began in summer 2025 and was completed by fall, with final landscaping to be added in spring 2026.
