Carrie Jane Gray concept plan project

The concept plan project is a multi-year initiative that aims to refurbish and modernize Carrie Jane Gray Park to premiere athletic park standards.

The project objectives are to provide direction for investment to continue to develop the Carrie Jane Gray athletic corridor, provide multisport opportunities for people of all ages in a central location, and to attract and host local, provincial, and national tournaments. The concept plan will help develop budgets and future investments for the City.

Phase one of this project included public consultation with user groups and residents of Prince George to understand their needs and preferences for the space. In May, the City hosted a focus group with key user groups including Prince George Youth Baseball, Spruce City Men and Minor Boys Softball, Prince George BMX, Senior Men Baseball, etc. The focus group helped the project team identify areas for improvement and ideas to inform the draft concept plans. The concept plans were then presented to residents through a public survey where participants chose their preferred plan. Read the What We Heard report for the results of the engagement so far.

We are now in phase two, which involves the creation of the proposed concept plan and phasing plan. Phase three involves construction, which is dependent on capital plan and budget approvals by Council during 2025 budget deliberations.
