Project background

As another skating season comes to a close, the City wants to know how you feel about current public skating programs and how you'd like to see them improve.

A public survey will run from March 20 to April 17, 2025. Take the survey or email getinvolved@princegeorge.ca before the project deadline to share your feedback. Your input will help shape a new request for proposal (RFP) that will determine the City's programming for the next skating season. Stay tuned to this page for updates.

Current skating programs

Guided by the City's Space Allocation Policy, staff must balance prime ice time between public skating programs, youth and adult sports leagues, non-profit programs, and School District 57 programs. The policy ensures fair and equitable space for local groups and organizations by striving for optimal space utilization, timing, and programming. Generally, ice time is available for public skating programs between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays and during specific hours on weekends. Skating programs typically run from October to March each year. Current programs are run by North Edge Ice Sports and include:

  • Indoor public skating
    • Elksentre: Fridays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
    • Kopar Memorial Arena: Saturdays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and Sundays from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Adult drop-in hockey
    • Kin 2: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Special events and private lessons
